Ice Makers by the Month Program FAQ

No. We do not sell ice makers, rather, our program acts as an alternative to owning an ice machine.

Ice machines require regular maintenance and cleaning – something some business owners don't have the time and money for.

Our program provides you with a top-of-the-line Hoshizaki ice machine with no capital upfront. We include all the maintenance and cleaning your ice machine needs to stay in peak condition - all for a low monthly cost.

Not everyone is eligible for an Ice Makers by the Month subscription. The qualifications we ask of customers are:

• Long-term need for ice
• Expectation to stay in business with a reliable track record
• Able to provide proper operating conditions to ensure machine performance

Although we will work with customers to be as flexible as possible, we may have to decline a business relationship if you don’t meet these qualifications. For more information, see our Qualifications page.

Yes, we do! However, there are additional qualifications and obligations for customers requesting either a water cooled ice machine or remote condenser ice machine.

Water Cooled ice makers have the following additional requirements:

• Your city, state, or municipality must allow the use of water cooled ice machines.
• You must be a multi-location company with a 5-year operating history.
• You acknowledge that you understand the effect on your water bill.

Remote Condenser ice makers are more complicated to install and remove, so there are a number of additional requirements associated with these units:

• You must be a multi-location company with a 5-year operating history.
• If your business qualifies, you will be required to sign a 3-year subscription agreement.
• You will be charged an installation fee, which will be determined prior to installation. This fee may include equipment rental depending upon the difficulty of the work required on the roof.
• You may be required to contact your roofing contractor to penetrate the roof to ensure continuation of roof warranty coverage.

Very rarely will we agree to install an ice machine outdoors, but we will work with you to find solutions. Ice machines are not designed for outdoor use, namely because it’s impossible to control the environment and temperature outside.

We do provide extra ice to subscribers in select markets with our Peak Ice program. Give us a call at 866-553-7708 to see if your market is eligible. If so, give us 48 hours’ notice to accommodate you.

We do not offer discounts for long term agreements. We believe you should have the ability to cancel when you want, so your best interests are always being met.

99% of our customers only pay the advanced payment and monthly fee. The other 1% are subject to additional charges for violating three main criteria:

• A customer’s electronic payment was returned.
• A customer-reported service call was determined to be a non-machine issue.
• A customer has mistreated or damaged the ice equipment.

We do offer additional services such as equipment relocation, installation of non-standard equipment, etc., but we identify these charges in advance before we perform work.

Finally, although we install 98% of our equipment in standard environments, we may make exceptions in non-standard environments for an additional premium. Again, we will identify the price for these exceptions in advance.

We offer three hassle-free payment options to our customers. They include:

• Automatic debit authorization from your bank account.
• Monthly subscription charge to a major debit or credit card.
• eCheck or Electronic Funds Transfer (issued on the first day of the month).

We keep track of preventive maintenance (PM) events, so you don’t have to. When the machine is due for a PM, we will proactively reach out to you and schedule the best time that works for you. Our step-by-step process is as follows:

1. An Easy Ice representative will call to schedule a PM service. At that time, we will remind you of any actions you need to take to prepare the ice machine for PM.
2. When the technician arrives, they’ll inspect the unit and notify the responsible party of any equipment misuse or if the condition of the machine suggests a more demanding environment than expected.
3. Once the technician verifies the equipment, they will complete the PM service, making a note of any unexpected or unusual conditions.
4. When the PM service is complete, the technician will review the completed work with the customer and request a completion signature.
